GCC approached coldpie to redesign their current website with the aim of making it simpler to use and navigate. They wanted the site to provide more interactivity allowing them to more easily manage news, events, blog articles, RSS feeds, surveys, course information and all other site content.
Coldpie completed an Information Architecture (IA) review and set about simplifying the content to appeal to its core target groups (School leavers, Adult learners, International Students and Employers). The new design reflected this split in a more coherent manner, stripping away the previous complexity of the previous site whilst maintaining its depth.
Full course and content management system including:
- Ability to add and remove pages and content where necessary
- Preview of content before publication
- A form builder tool allowing staff to create ad-hoc surveys and event registration pages and place them on any pages.
- Ability to create, edit, reorder and remove all news articles, event notifications and blog posts and to easily upload and manage related artwork and imagery.
- Full course management – allowing staff to easily edit start dates and course information. New courses can also be imported from spreadsheets and exported where necessary
- Sophisticated reports allowing staff to see the number of course searches, course browses, popular keyword searches, popular courses and more
- Document store for Word docs and PDFs, which can be attached to multiple pages
- Email newsletter management system allowing for capture of email addresses through the site (where appropriate) and the ability for staff member to easily create, schedule and send email newsletters to multiple groups
Front-end features
- Site keyword search for all content, news, events and blogs
- Simple and advanced course keyword search
- “Course basket” application system, allowing users to apply for multiple courses at once
- Course enquiry and “email to a friend” forms with the ability for admin staff to easily assign recipient addresses
The site in stats
Between its launch in October 2007 and February 2009:
- The site has received 325,000+ visits and had over 2,000,000+ page views
- Has received over 3,000 online applications, 3,000 individual course enquires, 3,500 prospectus requests and 900 contact form enquires.
