Magners/Paramount Comedy: Microsite with video uploads, competitions, voting and comments

The Paramount Comedy / Magners Micro-site was set-up in the hope of finding the country’s funniest joke in exchange for prizes. The site ran a monthly competition to allow users to upload videos of them telling their favourite joke and throughout each month users were able to comment and vote on each others clips. The site ran competitions from May 2007 – April 2008 and is not currently live.

coldpie’s social networking software was used for the site which included the following features:

Full User registration

Users are able to register, login and manage their profile through the system. New registrations were required to confirm their email address before being able to post videos or comments.

Back office control of competitions, users and content

Paramount Comedy staff have access to a secure back office system allowing them to add or manage competitions allowing them to set start and end dates for competitions. In addition they can preview video uploads, manage users, moderate and remove comments if neccessary and add or edit site content. In addition the back office allows staff to export and download in CVS format all email signup/unsubscribe information and user data across all months or for any given time period so they can easily import the data into their own internal system.

Leader-boards, discussion comments and voting mechanism.

The front-end of the site allows registered users to upload and manage their uploaded videos, comment on other members videos and vote for other videos. The system allowed for only one vote by each member against a video and stored all total and average scores in order to display the current months leader-board.

Design

All design was completed by coldpie following the brief to incorporate both sets of branding and brand guidelines.

coldpie were also commissioned to produce a series of flash adverts which were placed around Paramount’s key websites (the main Paramount Comedy website, MTV base and others). A couple of the ad’s are below
